Demetrios Karamichos MD

Demetrios Karamichos, MD, RVT, RPVI, DABVLM

“I love what I do and I hope it shows with every patient I treat.  It is a privilege to be a part of helping people achieve healthier legs and healthier lives”

In 2009, Dr. Karamichos was one of the first physicians in the nation to be certified by the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. As a venous and lymphatic specialist for over 14 years, he is dedicated to treating varicose vein disease and related disorders.  He is the only vein specialist in Northwest Indiana who is at the same location full time, five days a week, and who only treats varicose and spider veins, exclusively.

Dr. Karamichos, together with his team at Region Vein, is committed to minimally invasive treatment while caring for all patients with respect and compassion. He is at his office daily and personally manages each one of his patients treatment plans.

As a further demonstration of his commitment to quality care for his patients, Dr. Karamichos has earned the added credential of Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) as well as Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI), which is the highest standard in vascular ultrasound interpretation.

He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1994 and completed his residency at MacNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn, IL.

Prior to launching Region Vein, Dr. Karamichos was the Medical Director at Vein Clinics of America in Merrillville, one of the largest vein clinics in the nation. He has performed thousands of procedures. He started his own vein practice in 2020 in order to focus more on individualized patient care, and helping his patients achieve healthier legs.

Dr. Karamichos resides in Lake County with his wife, two grown children and an active Vizsla. They enjoy golfing at Centennial Park and Palmira golf courses, as well as skiing, bowling and going to classic car shows.
